The pad switch decreases sensitivity by -10 dB, allowing the DM-1T to manage SPLs up to 135 dB, which is adequate to resist even the most powerful hits.

The DM-1T, part of Sontronics’ family of drum-specific microphones, is nearly identical in size and weight as the DM-1S snare mic (sold separately), making them ideal for use together on drum kits and easy to place for best results. The two differ in their frequency-response curves, with the DM-1T having a more noticeable bottom-end roll-off and a somewhat lower presence boost in the 5–10 kHz region.
