Sontronics DM-1T Overview
Sontronics’ DM-1T produces better-sounding tom-toms on stage and in the studio. This small-diaphragm condenser microphone is specifically intended to authentically capture a tom’s percussive tone, resulting in rich, nuanced recordings that fit nicely in the mix without requiring much post-processing. The pad switch decreases sensitivity by -10 dB, allowing the DM-1T to manage SPLs up to 135 dB, which is adequate to resist even the most powerful hits.
DM-1T
The DM-1T, part of Sontronics’ family of drum-specific microphones, is nearly identical in size and weight as the DM-1S snare mic (sold separately), making them ideal for use together on drum kits and easy to place for best results. The two differ in their frequency-response curves, with the DM-1T having a more noticeable bottom-end roll-off and a somewhat lower presence boost in the 5–10 kHz region.
