Sontronics DM-1B Overview
A large-diaphragm, end-fire condenser microphone, the Sontronics DM-1B Kick Drum Microphone was created especially to record and replicate the different aspects of a kick drum, such as the boomy decay, hefty thud, and beater click.
Designed for recording kick drums
Sontronics’ DM-1B is a large-diaphragm, end-fire condenser microphone. It was created particularly to capture and replicate the unique features of a kick drum. So, whether it’s the beater click, the powerful thud, the boomy decay, and so on, this microphone provides excellent kick drum micing.
A sturdy microphone
The DM-1B features a switchable -15dB pad, allowing the microphone to handle up to 155 dB. This microphone’s strong construction and aluminum flight allow it to be used on both live stages and in the studio.
Pros tested it, and it works great with bass instruments
While the DM-1B is wonderful for kick drums, it also produces excellent sounds with other bass instruments, particularly bass guitar cabs. Flood, Alan Moulder, and Mark Rankin evaluated the DM-1B, as did a variety of session drummers, live musicians, and producers.
Sontronics DM-1B Kick Drum Microphone Applications:

- Bass guitar cabinets
- Tuba and trombone are examples of low brass instruments.
